Red Tail Project
The Red Tail Project’s mission is to identify and preserve the
history of the Tuskegee Airmen. While currently offering educational
resources, they are planning a traveling museum and are in the
midst of restoring a rare P-51C Mustang, one of the types of
aircraft flown by the Airmen. This aircraft is America’s tribute
to the Tuskegee Airmen, helping to tell their story of victory
on the battlefield during World War II through courage, sacrifice
and perseverance in the face of overwhelming obstacles.
This website is dedicated to P-51 Mustang serial number 44-84753,
which was delivered to the 412th Fighter Group in 1945, between
V-E Day and V-J Day.
