USAF Heritage
Flights
In 1997 the USAF
ACC (Air Combat Command) started flying dissimilar formation flights combining
the demonstration teams and civilian heritage warbirds. The flight formations
reflected the USAF pride from the past to the present. There was such an overwhelming
response that they designed and approved a formal program to continue the flight
throughout
the airshow seasons In February 1998, the first Heritage Flight Training
and Safety seminar was held at Langley AFB. The formal program of ground and flight
training was conducted and approved by the Director of Air and Space Operations.
In conjunction with the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends, 7-10 April 1999, the
Heritage Flight Program was formally included in the ACC Participation
in aircraft demonstration.
The Heritage Flights are performed at various airshows all over the world. For
